Science & You’s first press conference, presenting the event, was held on Thursday, 12th March, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Michel Robert, Francis Lepage and Patrick Baranger outlined the major components of this fine project: 1 week, 4 highlights, 180 speakers, 52 sessions, 150 PhD students ... and emphasized what makes it unique: a specialist event which the general public can share through a forum everyone can visit, with 3000 square meters of stands, exhibits, activities and performances, in order to “bring science to society” and to “exchange about scientific knowledge.”

A high-quality event also, thanks to prestigious sponsorships and patronages such as EDF, the L’Oréal Foundation or UNESCO. In addition to this, Michel Robert reiterated the dual aim of Science & You: to create an international event and to federate a broad audience so as to “promote a dialogue between professionals and the general public on issues of the scientific culture of today and tomorrow”.

Finally, a preview of details of the programmes of the conference and the forum was given, with the names of internationally renowned speakers and the titles of their talks, or some major themes such as “Women and Science”: a theme represented by Claudie Haigneré who reaffirmed her involvement in science communication and her support for the event.

Many thanks to all the journalists and partners present at this press conference for their attention and their curiosity!
